Ghana’s Right of Abode Policy- An invitation for African-Americans and Caribbeans to emigrate.

Since the days of Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana has always wanted to take steps to help the Africans in the diaspora, especially descendants of the unfortunate Africans ripped away from their homes during slavery. Efam Dovi, writing in the African Report says that the Right of abode law grants African Americans an indefinite “right to stay,..”

At a time when there seems to be a need for African unity, more than before, actions like this are welcome to the lives of people who have been suffering from racialist attacks among other injustices. The continent of Africa needs to adopt a more forward-looking and united stance wherewith its resources benefit first, the children of the continent. Countries ought to be truly independent and sovereign but there’s a long way still to go.
